Apple Pay Web Integration

Integrate Apple Pay in Web

Apple Pay is a secure mobile wallet that lets customers pay in person, in iOS apps and on the web using compatible Apple devices. This guide explains how to offer Apple Pay on your website with SEB, using the Web SDK.

Before you start the integration, make sure everything in the checklist below is in place. Most Apple Pay issues come from a missing prerequisite rather than from the code.

Accessibility requirements

Account setup

  • E-shop and card payments: Your e-shop must be registered and active in the Merchant Portal, and card payment methods must be enabled.

  • Apple Pay enabled: Apple Pay must be activated on your account. To enable it, contact SEB.

Domain registration (Web SDK)

If you use the Web SDK, your webstore domain must be verified and registered before Apple Pay will work.

  1. In the Merchant Portal, go to E-shop Settings, select your e-shop and open the Apple Pay section.

  2. Download the domain verification file and host it as described in the integration steps below.

  3. Click the + icon and enter your webstore domain or sub-domain (e.g. example.com or www.example.com).

  4. Click Add Domain.

  5. Check that the domain’s status shows registered.

Register every domain and sub-domain where you show the Apple Pay button, and make sure the verification file is reachable on each of them.

Server setup (Web SDK)

  • All pages that offer Apple Pay must be served over HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate.

  • Your server must be configured for secure communication with Apple Pay. See Apple’s guide to setting up your server.

The Web SDK does not require an Apple Developer account.

Documentation & resources

The full developer reference - SDK setup, configuration, error handling and payment flow - is attached below.

The integration guide is provided as a Markdown (.md) file and is best viewed in a Markdown-compatible viewer or editor.

Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT) with Apple Pay

Apple Pay supports Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT) the same way as regular card payments. If your system already handles MIT with standard cards, no additional integration steps are needed.

The key processes stay the same: save a card token during the initial one-off payment, then use that token for subsequent MIT charges. This works identically when the initial payment is made with Apple Pay.

For details on MIT integration, see the API documentation.
